How PAP contributes to the Environment and Sustainability

BEYOND ENERGY EFFICIENCY

At PAP, Paneles Aislantes de Peninsulares, right from the very start all decisions have been made to create essentially innovative products with a clear goal: to respect the environment and promote sustainable development.

All PAP products are manufactured in line with the criteria of modularity, design, quality and competitiveness, ensuring the strictest compliance with international regulations and current law regarding the environment, safety, and health.

There is only one Earth, and it is everyone’s responsibility.

Lambda – What does it mean?

This value is seen often when dealing with building materials. The Lambda “λ” is the Thermal Conductivity Coefficient, the unit of measurement of which is W/m.K

λ describes the ability of a material to conduct heat from one side to the other. It is possible to compare the thermal conductivity of different insulating materials using the λ value.

With a Lambda value of 0,0169 W/m.K* PAP provides the refrigeration panel with the lowest thermal conductivity to be manufactured in the Iberian Peninsula. Request our certificate.

ADVANTAGES OF A LOW LAMBDA VALUE

Installation energy savings

Reduced thermal losses lower building energy expenditure while cutting back on CO2 emissions, thus benefiting the environment.

Space savings

Thanks to such low thermal conductivity, thinner panels can be purchased and this means the space available in transport can be used more efficiently, thus reducing transport costs. It also means that the space available in the installation can be used more efficiently.

BUT WHAT IS PAP DOING TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT?

Registry of carbon footprint

PAP is registered within the "Registry of carbon footprint, compensation and CO2 absorption projects of the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge".
This voluntary registry includes the efforts of Spanish companies, administrations and other organizations in the calculation, reduction and compensation of greenhouse gas emissions generated by their activity. It also includes a portfolio of forestry projects with which these organizations can offset their footprint.

LONG USEFUL LIFE AND HIGH DURABILITY

Unlike other insulation materials, the insulating core of PAP panels does not lose thermal performance over time due to rainwater filtrations causing damp or other phenomena, which also avoids structural damage to the building over its lifetime. The thermal performance of the closed cell PIR insulating core is fully guaranteed for over 50 years.

REDUCTION IN RAW MATERIAL EXPENDITURE AND TRANSPORT EMISSIONS

The low level of thermal conductivity and its energy efficiency obtained thanks to the product's performance, its polyurethane formula, and the product design itself with its triple-joint and continuous PIR barrier mean that thinner panels can be used. As a result, fewer raw materials are used in their production, which also favours the reduction of emissions caused by transportation of the material in comparison with other insulating components with a lower energy efficiency level.

SAFE HANDLING

The insulating core of the PAP panels is fibre-free and not dangerous to handle: it does not damage the skin or generate harmful particles affecting the airways.

ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION

PAP has ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification, which gathers the growing importance of environment management throughout the business processes of companies. It believes leadership to be an essential part of ensuring the Environment Management system works properly, and this is essential for PAP.

GREEN CONSTRUCTION

PAP insulation panels help obtain green building certifications such as LEED or BREEAM, which certify that the elements used minimise the building’s environmental footprint and ensure its future sustainability.

RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTION

PAP is committed to renewable energies. Therefore, all electricity used to produce our panels comes from 100% renewable sources through the company GESTERNOVA and its SKV (Solo Kilovatios Verdes - Green Kilowatts Only). This ensures that energy comes from alternative sources during the production process.

LIFE REPOLYUSE PARTNER COMPANY

PAP is the only panel manufacturer in Spain to be a partner of Life-Repolyuse. This is a European Union project that addresses the problematic waste management of polyurethane foams (PUR, PUF, PIR). The project has implemented a new technology that integrates polyurethane waste into a new construction material, thus extending the life cycle of the waste.

100% RECYCLABLE

The composition of PAP insulation panels does not incorporate any chlorinated compound, which means it can be recycled for endless uses and applications.

HCFC-FREE POLYURETHANE

We produce the insulating polyisocyanurate (PIR) core of all our panels free of CFC, HCFC and HFC. The steel and the coating on the outside are free of SCHC, as shown in the FM certificate of our products.
They are all identified with the “Ecological Product” symbol by FM APPROVALS, one of the international leaders in the field of testing and approval services performed by independent entities.

There are many reasons why our insulation panels have been, are and will remain essential elements in construction, thanks to their multiple qualities and their great contribution towards respecting the Environment and Sustainable Development
